corey yuen dropped the bomb when he paired michelle yeoh with an unknown american and world forms champion cynthia rothrock. yuen was well known for some of the best choreography in the business he pushed his actors to the breaking point and at some point they must have been asking themselves what the hell am i doing? is this all worth it? michelle seemed to handle this with ease everyone praised her natural ability but cynthia had never before been pushed like this and she had to dig down deep inside herself and draw on her years of martial arts training to survive the filming experience. she quickly learned  that this was exactly what corey yuen was trying to do and that was to get the best out of them by making them perform like their life depended on it and this very much mirriored his childhood teacher at the peking opera school he grew up in as part of the 7 little fortunes. his striving for perfection shows in every film he works on and he very much leaves his fingerprint on each film. every camera angle every cut was perfection right down to the frame. his actors fully extended themselves showcasing their flexiblity and power! every punch was perfectly placed every kick fully extended and in perfect form perfectly undercranked not too much not too little and mind blowing stunt work gave these women a platform and delivered power like no other ladies before them had displayed on film. this lanched a subgenre than had a fan following enough to support it for 10 years of film making after this (GWG) HK girls with guns! these two were the origonals and corey yuen the engineer. many productions tried to follow suit but none could out do the mold all was minted from. something was always off yes madam was from a technical standpoint a perfect display of martial film making. not a pure kung fu film but the action itself was 100% pure HK action cinema! if you haven't seen a GWG film or a modern martial romp outside of jackie chan this film is 100% satisfaction!biggrin
