The Barefooted Kid

Starring: Aaron Kwok, Ti Lung, Maggie Cheung
Directed by: Richard To
Produced by: Mona Fong
Action: Liu Chia Liang
Year: 1993

There is something about this movie. Good story and super ass-kicking kung fu. So , i decided to write a review about this one.

Aaron Kwok stars as an illiterate peasant boy who comes to the Four Seasons Weavers looking for employment. Ti Lung, a friend of his father, gives him his first pair of shoes and teaches him to perfect his already impressive martial arts skills. Corrupt officials are sabotaging the Four Seasons, trying to harrass the owner, Maggie Cheung, into selling the profitable business. When they witness Aaron Kwok`s fighting talent in a tournament, they persuade him to go and work for them. But when he discovers he has been tricked into hurting the people who befriended him, his fury turns against them.

This is a movie with great fight scenes. Aaron Kwok is excellent as the peasant boy determined to better himself by learning to write his name, yet too shy to admit it. His fighting is equally assured and stylish. Its rare to find a film so well-acted and captivating in its plot and yet with enough action to satisfy the most hardened fight-flick-fan!

Movie rate: 4/5
