Ok! this movie is 1984 so I think I'm in the right section for posting that.

Does anybody know if there is an uncut widescreen print of that movie out there?
Also, does an original Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) version exist or only that
old English dub?

I've got the Mandarin version of the movie, but it's fullscreen without subs. Maybe could sync it up with the widescreen english dub version.

I've already started syncing this one up. If someone wants to make a Srt file of the English dubbed track, then i can add some 'dubtitles'

But the English dubs and Canto/Mandarin tracks are not always alike in terms of sentence structure. To do it properly, it needs the Mandarin version and the Eng dub to do a proper comparison and then make the dubtitles. Working with just the Eng dub alone can lead to errors when you apply the SRT to the Mandarin print.

in an ideal world I'd have a Mandarin speaker to translate the track to English subtitles but I've been asking for one for months for my own Clone projects and havent been able to find one.  The English dubbed script wrote out would probably be the best way to start.

Right, you confused me a little. In your above post you said if someone wants to make an SRT from the English dub, not just a script. For a timed SRT, you need the Mandarin print to time the subs to.

I'm adding the mandarin soundtrack to the English dubbed wide print, so the Srt file will be timed with the English dubbed version. When they speak on the dubbed version is the same time as they speak on the mandarin version, if you get what i mean? Maybe a little tweaking but should be about the same.

Yes, I understand what you mean, but syncing Eng subs to the Eng dub is a bad idea. I've done a few of these in the past, and sometimes the English dubbers add extra dialogue not contained in the Mandarin track, or they take dialogue out and add hmmm - haaa sounds to fill the space. By syncing to the Eng dub, you're potentially making further work for yourself later. It's better if you sync to the Mandarin in Subtitle Workshop, using the the Eng dub playing in VLC as a guide. This way you get it right the first time and saves lots of work later with "tweaking".
