Miss Please be Patient was always my top wanted, because Kim Tae Jeong is the best guy out there, but for now:
My top 5:
*1. The Big Boss part II (1976) - My top wanted stuff because it looks quiet good on trailer and those 10 mins that Naushad posted, also it is only Big Boss sequel.
*2. Magic Ring (1976) - From plot that i heard this movie is damn good, also it have Juddy Lee in it
*3. The Phantom Thief (1981) - Hwang Jang Lee`s lost movie, all other Hwang`s movies are here only this one is missing!
*4. Tiger Boy (1966) - Jimmy Wang Yu classic, also got Lo Lieh in it, everything with those two is watchanable and wanted.
*5. Quick Cut, Without Knife - Phillip Ko lost movie, it is not much known about this film.
my wants are based off of whats availible. i found most of the stuff i was after but i am after so much more for different curiousities. plus i'm always crossing films off my want list so it changes all the time. i don't really like to focus on films i don't have the chance to see or films people have and are holding on to. i'm more interested in finding stuff thats availible and enjoying them instead of obessing over films and fustraiting myself with the unatainables. part of the enjoyment of these films is enjoying them with like minded fans. the mainstream releases are the same films most of the time. i tend to buy OOP releases from ebay, collectors and digging up old stock in the back of stores. i go to chinatown on the weekends and just search my little hobby.
my tastes are so wide and varied things i'm looking for are in catagories like
1. 70's-80's taiwan dark wuxia in origonal language 2. 1972-1976 taiwan bashers in origonal language and wide if possible 3. 1986-1995 modern action films in origonal language LD rips if possible 4. upgrades to classics and personal favorites best case senario telecine transfer of a rare 5. rare english dubs or subtitled versions
i pretty much watch all the sub-genres so there is lots to enjoy
Right now I'm focused on digging up old swedish rental VHS tapes (because I'm from Sweden, duh) and they can be quite expensive. I really wish I hadn't passed on the Enter The Panther tape I saw last year which went for about €30, I've never seen it before or since. I'm really not rich so it's not easy to be a collector!
I'd love to see the Japanese VHS of that Hong-Kong movie that uses a Bruce Lee clone that has to fight people in Heaven/Hell...
Chances are that the Japanese VHS is uncut and widescreen but might only have Japanese subtitles as well, but since there is already a dub (or subbed) version that means we could do a pretty cool composite edition.
